- Additionally, there is controversial evidence about the monophyly of elopomorphs (Forey et al. 1996, Filleul & Lavoué 2001, Wang et al. 2003, Inoue et al. 2004) and osteoglossomorphs (Filleul & Lavoué 2001). Furthermore, the phylogenetic relationships among elopomorphs are based on few species (Forey et al. 1996, Arratia 2000, Filleul 2001).
The phylogenetic relationships among osteoglossomorphs are also based on very few species in comparison to the diversity of the group (e.g., Li & Wilson 1996, Hilton 2003). There are also different opinions concerning the content of the Ostarioclupeomorpha (e.g., Lecointre & Nelson 1996, Johnson & Patterson 1996, Arratia, 1997 versus Ishiguro et al. 2003).
